Dr. Hamid Okhravi is the Alfred E. Abiouness Endowed Professor at the Glennan Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology where he is the Medical Director of the Memory Consultation Clinic for diagnosing and treating patients with different types of cognitive disorders.
He received his MD from Mashhad University of Medical Sciences in Iran and completed the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Saint Louis University and also Hurley Medical Center in affiliation with Michigan State University. He completed his geriatric fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
He is the principal investigator of the EVMS Memory Clinic Registry Project which will become the most comprehensive memory clinic registry in the State of Virginia. He is also the principal investigator for 16 active research studies, including the site-PI for several national and international pivotal clinical trials. He is the site-PI for the AHEAD3-45 Study which is one of the first clinical trials examining the effects of therapeutics in preclinical stage of Alzheimer’s disease.
Dr. Okhravi has presented at over 20 national and international scientific conferences and serves as a panel member at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference.
Additionally, he is a member of several editorial boards for peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Geriatrics and Palliative Care. He has published many articles, mentors many young physicians and future physicians and health professions students and other practitioners in the areas of memory and cognition and is a much sought after speaker on the subject.
