Causes of Facial Paralysis
Facial paralysis can have many causes including:
- After-effects of surgery
- Bell’s Palsy (including incomplete recovery)
- Brain tumor or its treatment
- Congenital unilateral lower lip palsy (CULLP)
- Ear infections or disease
- Facial nerve tumors
- Blepharospasm
- Acoustic neuromas (vestibular schwannomas)
- Facial synkinesis and hemifacial spasms
- Head and neck cancers, including of the parotid gland
- Lyme disease or Ramsay Hunt Syndrome
- Moebius Syndrome
- Neurofibromatosis
- Stroke
- Trauma
- Vascular malformations
