Steven L. Goudy, MD, MBA, FACS

Steven Goudy, MD, MBA, FACS, serves as chair of Otolaryngology at Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences Eastern Virginia Medical School at Old Dominion University.

Dr. Goudy joins the University from Emory University, where he has served as professor of Otolaryngology and director of Pediatric Otolaryngology, as well as chief of Pediatric Otolaryngology at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Earlier in his career, Dr. Goudy held several positions at Vanderbilt University, including assistant professor of Otolaryngology, associate professor of Otolaryngology and fellowship director of Pediatric Otolaryngology.

Over the past decade, Dr. Goudy built the largest pediatric ENT division in the Southeastern United States, expanding from three to 15 pediatric ENT surgeons. He also developed six multidisciplinary clinics that bridged adult and pediatric care.

Dr. Goudy’s commitment to collaborative, high-quality care extended beyond the academic setting, as he successfully integrated academic and community practices across three hospitals and led more than 100 outreach events across Georgia to enhance access and engagement.

A true innovator, Dr. Goudy has pioneered initiatives such as the first 3D-printed airway scaffold program in the Southeast and has co-founded two startups, Dr. Noze Best and Oridivus, focused on improving pediatric health outcomes.

Dr. Goudy’s entrepreneurial spirit is matched by his dedication to research and discovery. He is the recipient of two current R01 grants and an STTR grant from the NIH, and he holds several patents for medical innovations. His leadership in initiating clinical trials and commitment to translating science into practice align perfectly with our institutional mission to lead through excellence in education, research and patient care.

Equally impressive is Dr. Goudy’s record in medical education and institutional service. He developed an ACGME-approved pediatric otolaryngology fellowship, co-founded the Emory Innovation Certificate Program and served as vice chair of Research in the Department of Otolaryngology. His national leadership is evident in his roles as a senior board examiner for the American Board of Otolaryngology, standing NIH study section member and president-elect of the American Cleft Palate Association.
