Scott S. Williams, MD, Ph.D.

Scott Williams, MD, Ph.D., has served as Chair of EVMS Radiation Oncology since 2021, following his tenure as Vice Chair from 2007 to 2021. He is widely recognized by both peers and patients for his exceptional clinical expertise in radiation oncology, steadfast commitment to excellence and safety, and compassionate, patient-centered approach.

Dr. Williams established the CyberKnife Stereotactic Radiosurgery program at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in 2009 and served as its Medical Director until 2012. In 2013, he initiated the high-dose brachytherapy program for breast cancer patients at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. He currently serves as Chief of the Radiation Oncology Service at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he maintains a general practice with special interests in head and neck cancers and neuro-oncology. Previously, Dr. Williams served as Medical Director for radiation oncology programs at Sentara Princess Anne Cancer Center and Sentara CarePlex Hospital.

In addition to his clinical leadership, Dr. Williams serves as a co-investigator on clinical trials through the Alliance and NRG Oncology cooperative groups (formerly RTOG).

Dr. Williams believes that effective cancer care is a collaborative effort involving the patient, multidisciplinary oncology colleagues, clinical staff, and referring and primary care physicians. He approaches every interaction with the dignity, respect, and compassion for which he is known.

Edwin F. Crandley, MD

Edwin Crandley, MD, is Vice Chair and Associate Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Eastern Virginia Medical School.  He completed his medical school training at Eastern Virginia Medical School in 2009, followed by radiation oncology residency training at the University of Virginia which was completed in 2014.  He has been on the faculty of Eastern Virginia Medical School since 2014, and currently works at the Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital location where he serves as Medical Director.  Dr. Crandley sees patients with all types of cancer, and has expertise in stereotactic radiosurgery, stereotactic body radiation therapy, and high dose rate brachytherapy for gynecologic cancers.

Nathan C. Sheets, MD

Nathan C. Sheets, MD is a diplomate of the American Board of Radiology and is a member of the American Society for Radiation Oncology. He earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan and completed his Radiation Oncology Residency at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Dr. Sheets has authored and contributed to numerous research publications in his field.
